“Grief is the work of mature men and women. The gift of grief is the affirmation of life and of our intimacy with the world…it stirs the heart, and is the song of a soul alive.”
—Francis Weller, The Wild Edge of Sorrow

As autumn arrives, the natural world offers us a quiet invitation to let go. Trees release what they have carried all season, making space for rest, renewal, and the life that will come again. Fall reminds us that letting go is not the end of the story; it is part of the rhythm of life.

Grief is part of being human. Each of us has passed through some of what Francis Weller calls the “Gateways of Grief”: the death of someone we love, the end of a significant relationship, the loss of work or health, a dream deferred or denied. We may grieve what we have lost—and also what we never received: love, safety, belonging, or support. We may carry the grief of our families and ancestors, as well as the sorrow of a suffering world.

Grief can leave us feeling as though something is missing—a hole where a person, hope, dream, or way of life once lived.

“If you give [grief] time, the hole becomes a space.”
—Bert Hellinger, founder of Family Constellations

What if, rather than rushing to fill or fix those spaces, we learned to honor them? What might become possible when grief is given time, attention, and compassionate presence?

In the spirit of the autumn season, we will gather for a day of reflection and exploration, considering how grief might become a source of personal transformation and sacred activism. Through reflection, conversation, and several Family Constellations processes, we will gently explore the losses we carry and the ways they continue to shape us.

Family Constellations circles invite deep inner movement, new insight, and the possibility of transformation. Together, we will ask: How can we honor our losses without allowing them to keep us from moving forward? How might we bear the grief of the past and present while still making room for the future? What might we need to release, like the leaves of autumn, so that new life has room to emerge? What gentle adjustments might allow the “hole,” in time, to become a sacred space?

In the shelter of community, we will explore the roots of our fertile grief, open ourselves to the healing that is possible, and listen for what our experiences may be asking of us now. As the earth enters a season of release and rest, we too will make space to listen, receive, and discover what is waiting to emerge.

How might our grief shape us into the unique expression of transformative, divine energy that the world needs?

All are welcome. People of all faiths, cultures, gender identities, ages, abilities, and beliefs are invited to participate.
