Timothy Simmons

Timothy Simmons is a musician, writer, educator, and artist from Philadelphia. He is currently the Music teacher at Delaware Valley Friends School in Paoli, PA, where he has synthesized his dual experiences of being both an English and Music teacher to develop a unique Music curriculum for neurodivergent children. Tim’s approach to music is based in improvisation and aims to engage every player at any level of experience or background, creating a brave space that includes and uplifts all voices. At the same time, Tim’s improvised approach to music targets language centers of the brain, giving neurodiverse learners a full brain workout through music-making. Tim is the author of Serafine Finds a Song, a storybook for young readers that teaches them how to improvise their own song. Serafine Finds a Song includes a standards-based curriculum for educators and an original soundtrack as well. Tim has also released several albums of instrumental music. His most recent albums, Transforma: Light Returning, and Friends Meeting, can be found wherever you get music. Tim is currently working on a new project, a YA novel and accompanying rock opera called Moonfish.
